FORMAL LANDSCAPE, JAPANESE WATERFALL
Our client was in love with Japanese-inspired landscaping, so here we used a mixture of plants, textures and sensory tools to provoke a feeling of Japan. A waterfall and pond stocked with coi fish and softened with acquatic plants was the centerpiece. The constant trickle of water transports one out of suburbia whilst attracting beneficial critters and organisms to the small ecosystem.
A terraced design was incorporated to account for the steep slope rising from the back windows of the house, bringing the sightline down and softening the gradient. Plants were carefully chosen to ensure four-season color and interest.
Stone work was built in collaboration with Pilato's, based out of Georegetown, CT.
